Our last morning in Ireland! Greg had discovered a village named Castlegregory…we could easily detour through it in the way to the airport, so off we went.
The route we took was through the Conor Pass. If I had been amazed by the views before, now I was simply awestruck. I’m sorry I was the driver, I had to keep my eyes on the very narrow and very high roads. And the sheep just wandered where ever they wanted. I’m glad we did this route after seven days of practice on the Irish roads. At least there weren’t any roundabouts LOL.

We made it to the Shannon airport in good time. We had to go through two checkpoints, and then “pre-clearance” for customs, which was awesome. There were many places to shop for those last minute souvenirs — and we did pick up a few more small things.
Unfortunately, our flight was delayed 2.75 hours. We boarded about 1.5 hours late, and then sat for another 1.25 hours. It turned out there was a medical emergency on the inbound flight, and they had to get the replacement equipment from Dublin. At least they told us “information will be available at…” and then they actually would say something, although it was frequently “we will update you again at…”

Goodbye Ireland! Slán go fóill!

Our arrival in Boston was uneventful, and because we had already cleared customs, we were out of the airport quickly. We dropped Greg off, then Charles drove the three hours home. The dogs were happy to see us. Right to bed, we had been up about 22 hours.
